Newman Early Learning Centre
YMCA Newman Early Learning Centre is designed to enchant. The focus of staff is on the learning process of the child, so Educators give children the time to build relationships, explore ideas and to practice concepts. The facility was purpose built by the YMCA in partnership with BHP Billiton Iron Ore in 2009 to support the needs of the local community. The centre has an amazing natural outdoor environment with real grass, trees, vegetable and flower gardens and chickens. Plus there is a diverse creative arts program.
We offer places for children from birth to 5 years, we only serve nutritious home-style food and fees are affordable. Plus flexible hours to accommodate rosters, 5 days a week, and access to a Child Health Nurse. The centre is a member of Remida - a creative reuse centre that supplies recyclable materials to services for children to be creative with and learn about sustainability.
YMCA Newman Early Learning Centre is also the base for a range of YMCA’s Family Support Programs, supporting Indigenous families and children in Newman and outlaying communities. We are committed to improving outcomes for Indigenous children and assisting them to successfully transition to school.
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from parents to assess the suitability of creating a pre-kindergarten program aimed at supporting families that are looking to transition children into a learning program. Please submit the following form:

Being a remote mining town we consider every family who enters our service as joining our ELC family. We strive to build strong relationships with every child and provide an interesting, natural learning environment that reflects our communities multiculturalism and unique qualities. We love watching each child grow and develop, discovering their unique learning styles and seeing their individual personalities emerge.
My son Wesley goes to afterschool care at YMCA Newman ELC. He Absolutely loves the staff, and the fun activities they do after school. He is always given a healthy and tasty snack when he arrives, which is great as they all seem to be hungry after school no matter what they are given for lunch. The best part has to be YMCA's stance on bullying, I have never seen any of the children even remotely hostile toward each other.
